How Long Should Your Soy Candles Cure?

Did you know that candles have to "cure" to ensure that the fragrance has evenly spread across the wax? Allowing your candles to sit and rest completely will give a better burning experience.

How Long Do We Let Candles Cure For?

After we pour our soy candles, we let them cure for at least two weeks before we list them on our website. After the initial pour, the wax in the candle may contract or settle as it cools. Allowing the candle to cure that long gives the wax time to stabilize and prevents potential issues like sinkholes or uneven surfaces. This ensures a smoother and more aesthetically pleasing final product. Each type of wax (Soy, Paraffin, Beeswax, etc.) has different curing times, so be sure to research your wax type and go with those recommendations.

Tips For Curing Candles:

Resist the urge to rush the process. Allowing soy candles to cure for the recommended two weeks ensures that they have adequate time to achieve optimal fragrance and burn performance. A well-cured soy candle is more likely to provide an even, clean, and efficient burn. Store curing candles in a cool, dark place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperature fluctuations. This helps maintain the stability of the wax and fragrance.

While waiting those two weeks may require a bit of patience as a candle maker, the payoff in terms of a beautifully fragrant, aesthetically pleasing, and well-performing soy candle is undoubtedly worth it. If you’re feeling extra diligent as a candle lover, let your candles cure for two more weeks after receiving them to let it accommodate to your environment. There is no such thing as waiting too long to burn, but we encourage you to burn them at your hearts desire.
