A Guide To Different Types of Soy Wax

There are different types of waxes, such as: Soy, Coconut, Beeswax, and Paraffin. Within these categories are even more variation in the type of wax you want to use as a candle maker. At For the Occasion, we prefer to use soy wax for all our candles and wax melts because of its numerous benefits. But what type of soy wax should you use for your project? In this guide, we'll shed light on the diverse categories of soy wax, helping you choose the perfect match for your candle creations.

Here is an insight into 4 different Soy Wax types you can choose from:

1. Container Soy Wax: This type of soy wax is specifically formulated for container candles. It has a lower melting point, allowing it to fully melt and create an even burn pool within the container. This is what we use for our 9oz and 17oz candles!

2. Pillar Soy Wax: Pillar soy wax is designed for making freestanding candles, such as pillars or votives. It has a higher melting point compared to container soy wax, which helps the candle retain its shape and structure. We use this wax for our melts!

3. Blended Soy Wax: Blended soy wax combines soy wax with other natural or synthetic waxes to improve certain characteristics. Blended soy waxes can offer a balance between the benefits of soy wax and other waxes.

4. Additive-Enhanced Soy Wax: Some soy waxes are formulated with additives to improve specific properties. These additive-enhanced soy waxes take customization to the next level by incorporating additional substances like stearic acid, vybar, or botanical extracts. From improved fragrance retention to enhanced color stability, additive-enhanced soy waxes allow candle makers to fine-tune their creations.

When selecting your soy wax, consider the intended use, desired characteristics, and the creative vision you have for your candles. Whether you're crafting container candles that radiate warmth, standalone pillars that stand tall, experimenting with unique blends, or adding customized touches with additives, the diverse world of soy wax has something for every candle-making journey.✨
